ChatGPT users can now invoke GPTs directly in chats

OpenAI is making it easier for ChatGPT users to bring in third-party AI models into conversations, aiming to enhance chat experiences.

Paid users of ChatGPT can now invoke GPTs by typing "@" and selecting one from the list. These GPTs understand the entire conversation and can provide relevant responses based on context.

According to OpenAI, this feature allows users to add relevant GPTs with full conversation context, enhancing the overall chat experience.

The introduction of this feature follows the recent launch of the GPT Store, where developers can create and share GPTs for various purposes. These GPTs range from simple to complex, including a trail recommender from AllTrails, a code tutor from Khan Academy, and a content designer from Canva.

OpenAI plans to introduce monetization for developers selling access to their GPTs in the future. However, they face challenges such as low traffic and moderation issues.

Custom GPTs currently make up only about 2.7% of ChatGPT's global web traffic, with a decline in traffic observed since November.

Moderation is also a concern, as the GPT Store initially saw an influx of inappropriate chatbots violating OpenAI's terms. Although OpenAI employs human and automated review methods, managing the increasing volume of GPTs may pose a challenge in the future.
