The Content team at Buffer, which comprises just three people, heavily relies on AI to enhance their efficiency in managing blogs, social media, PR, and other content-related tasks. They have been experimenting with various AI tools over the past year, especially since the advent of ChatGPT, and have integrated AI into their processes to handle time-consuming tasks that can be automated, such as proofreading, brainstorming, creating templates, and generating interview questions. However, they maintain a clear stance that AI assists but doesn’t replace creative human input, emphasizing that AI never writes complete drafts or paragraphs without human editing and is always reviewed for accuracy.

Diego Sanchez, a Senior Product Manager at Buffer, played a key role in the development of Buffer's AI Assistant. Diego, who had a longstanding interest in AI and prior experience working with AI applications, joined Buffer in 2019 and presented his ideas for AI applications across Buffer's products to Maria, Buffer’s Chief Product Officer, and Joel, Buffer's Founder and CEO. Working with Dinos, a product engineer on Diego’s team, they focused on text-to-text applications to help users with tasks like writing captions, generating post ideas, and rewriting content in different tones.
