Puma is enhancing its e-commerce infrastructure to prepare for future AI and virtual tech innovations, partnering with Google Cloud for a global e-commerce data platform. This move includes shifting Puma.com and integrating AI-powered functions in the coming years.



According to Pancho Ortuzar, director of global e-commerce engineering at Puma, the new data platform enables deeper consumer insights for smoother shopping experiences, both online and offline, by consolidating valuable data and providing visibility into audience engagement.



Ortuzar highlighted the benefits of migrating to Google Cloud, emphasizing accelerated growth for Puma's direct-to-consumer channels and improved analytics, data governance, and security through a centralized customer data platform.



Puma's AI capabilities will include AI-powered search, a generative AI shopping assistant, a virtual try-on feature using AI-generated content, and enhanced loyalty programs. These advancements aim to understand and reward customers based on individual and family needs.



The streamlined technology stack will eliminate data silos, enabling Puma to explore innovative AI applications and strengthen consumer relationships. Early results show a 19% increase in average order value due to integrations with Big Query and Google Analytics, enhancing personalization and inventory communication for customers.
